Whistler Ski Holidays
Whistler is located at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains offering the highest lift-serviced vertical and the largest terrain of any ski resort in North America.
Whistler is located in Western Canada and the nearest international airport is in Vancouver, about 2.5-3 hours away on a scheduled airport transfer. The spectacular Sea-to-Sky highway out of Vancouver, which takes you to Whistler, has been widened improving accessibility and flow of traffic to Whistler Blackcomb ski resort.
Whistler Blackcomb has three mountain bases, Whistler Village, Upper Village and Creekside each with lifts or gondolas accessing one or both of the mountains. Whistler Village is the centre and for this reason can be quite noisy at night with skiers and snowboarders enjoying the excellent nightlife Whistler has to offer.
Whistler Creekside is away from the action which is reflected in the Whistler ski accommodation rates. The upper village on Blackcomb mountain boasts ski-in and ski-out properties. The upper village is much quieter than the downtown Whistler Village pedestrian-only core.
No car rental is required in Whistler as there is a free village shuttle stopping at most developments and most places you can walk to.
In December 2008, Whistler Blackcomb opened their PEAK-2-PEAK Gondola which connects both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. This PEAK-2-PEAK Gondola now links 8,171 acres of terrain into one continuous lift system allowing skiers and riders to maximise their day.
Whistler Blackcomb was also part of the winter 2010 Olympic games. In additional to skiing and snowboarding in the winter time, other activities include snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, skating and NHL ice hockey tours.
Ski accommodations in Whistler range from smaller studio units to luxurious 6-bedroom resort homes. Contact us with your preferences and we will find something suitable.
